There are only a few originals left from the golden era of Blue Note Records. Donald Byrd was one of them. Sad day.
This LP captures Byrd at his best: the gifted compositional chops; the bright, cleanly articulated, bluesy horn lines, and of course, his nose for attracting superb talent to his recording sessions.
